On April 26th, Ecological Land Management and Stewardship’s (abbreviated hereafter as ELMS) Owner, Colby Fong, volunteered with Friends of Piscataquog River Park. The Piscataquog River Park has a trail system that many people in Manchester are not aware of. The trails are sandwiched in between the ball fields at the park and the bike path. While not widely known around the state. This park is heavily utilized due to its close proximity to the downtown area of Manchester.
Parks and trails like these are among some of the most utilized trails in New Hampshire and deserve every little bit of stewardship they get. While, uncrowded remote trails may be a hikers preferred spot, these places that are close to town are where people most frequently connect with nature in their day to day. These parks also serve as a special entrance for individuals who are interested in the natural world but don’t yet have the community or skills to venture father from town and into the backcountry. Trails like these are places where most people learn to love the environment.
ELMS owner Colby Fong helped with trash pick up on this important trail system to the people of Manchester, picking up a volume of over 130 gallons of trash.
