Soils Mapping

Do you want to know where to plant certain species or where your soils are most productive for certain crops or trees?

Ecological Land Management & Stewardship (abbreviated here to ELMS), can produce soils mapping for your property; providing landowners with soil maps clipped to their property boundaries, that allow landowners to plan according to their soils. Soils maps are included in ELMS forest management plans and most other ELMS plans. ELMS can provide basic soil maps that display the locations of different soil “series” or soil types. ELMS also provides a detailed descriptions of these soil series.

ELMS produces maps upon demand that are based off of these soil characteristics creating maps that target areas like: operations limitations, potential for seedling mortality, suitability for hand planting, fence post digging suitability, wind throw hazard, recreational trail suitability, site index (for specific species), cation exchange capacity, organic matter content, available water capacity & storage, percent clay, sand, & silt, drainage class, flood frequency class, and depth to water table.

ELMS sees using these maps as a good first step before management to see whether your management will be likely to be successful. ELMS is committed to helping landowners invest their resources on projects that have the highest likelihood for success.

ELMS also produces custom mapping of on ground features like streams, wetlands (not legal delineations), road systems, erosion concerns, stand types and many other features beyond soil based mapping.
